Nancy Mace Shares Nude Photo in House Hearing to Highlight Alleged Assault and Push for Legal Reform

In a stunning and deeply personal moment during a U.S. House Oversight Committee hearing, Representative Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) held up a censored nude photo of herself that she claims was taken without her consent. The dramatic action came as part of a hearing on “surveillance in private spaces,” where Mace shared harrowing details of what she describes as a long and abusive ordeal at the hands of her ex-fiancé.

The Allegations

Rep. Mace alleged that Patrick Bryant, her former fiancé, had secretly recorded intimate moments using hidden cameras. She claims the photo she shared during the hearing was just one of over 10,000 images and videos discovered on Bryant’s phone—evidence she says documents non-consensual sexual recordings and even sexual assault.

According to Mace, Bryant and three other men engaged in criminal behavior that includes rape, sex trafficking, and the covert documentation of sexual acts involving her and other women. She revealed these claims while calling for stronger federal protections against such invasions of privacy.

A Legal Battle Unfolds

In response to Mace’s public accusations, Bryant has denied all wrongdoing and filed a defamation lawsuit, asserting that Mace's claims are false and malicious. Mace, in turn, has filed a defamation lawsuit of her own over social media statements Bryant allegedly made. Both lawsuits are currently making their way through the legal system.

A Call for Reform

During the hearing, Mace didn’t just share her personal trauma—she used her platform to draw attention to systemic flaws. She criticized her home state of South Carolina for having weak laws regarding non-consensual recordings and emphasized the need for comprehensive legal reform nationwide.

“This isn’t just about me,” she said during the hearing. “It’s about every woman and man who has had their privacy violated by someone they trusted—or by the technology they didn’t even know was watching.”
